Arkham - The Freak Power Candidate - CD VOL 04892 Like the Vegas hallucination of melting walls and lounging lizards experienced by Rauol Duke, “The Freak Power Candidate” incorporates unconventional recording methods that take the listener on a Hunter S. Thompson-esq trip. Recorded on a shoe string budget over a month and a half “The Freak Power Candidate” takes a decidedly low-fi tone compared to their previous effort, “Mahkra” which was produced by Alex Newport and recorded when the band had only been together for a mere six months. By taking a year off from all things associated with the music industry, the band was able to seclude themselves from everything that can derail a potentially great album, such as touring, record labels, lawyers, and managers. Locked up in their practice space, Arkham wrote handfuls of songs scrutinizing every part in order to achieve the exact sound and tone they wanted for their record. The result, “The Freak Power Candidate”, an intelligent heavy album that challenges the short attention spanned to slow down and digest the musical stew brewing in their stereos.
